Idea – houseboat and marina:
Our idea combines an energetically self-sufficient houseboat for 6-8 people with 2 different saunas, relaxation areas, bathing fun, lounge and a marina on land. The arrival and departure of guests, possible overnight stays, energy, water and food supplies for the houseboat as well as waste disposal are organized through this marina. This combination would also allow several sauna boats to be managed via this “docking station”.
Sauna boat: Various elements come together to create a unique holiday experience in breathtaking nature. The sauna boat is designed for 6-8 people. The centerpiece is located in the basement - a steam sauna with an underground panoramic view. A changing room and technical rooms are housed here. On the ground floor there is a dry sauna with a great view of the surrounding area, the modern bar for drinks and snacks as well as a pool and a floating platform with a surrounding diving deck and relaxation areas in the middle of the fjord in the outdoor area. The boatman steers the houseboat on the upper deck. The relaxation area here is an oasis of comfort and sensual experience. All rooms are flooded with light. The ceiling covering with linen cloths conjures up a very special play of light and changes the atmosphere depending on the light. The interior should support the sensual and emotional experience through soft, clear lines, gentle surfaces and soft fabrics.
Community house as the center of the marina: The arrival and departure of guests is organized here. Storage and technical rooms find their place. There is also a large common area for guests who are not on the houseboat. Traditional cosiness paired with light-flooded rooms allow relaxation even in bad weather.
Sleeping huts: There are three sleeping huts, which offer a pragmatic and comfortable overnight accommodation for two people each and are designed with traditional materials. Guests traveling from far away can also take advantage of this offer for short vacations.
Supply and disposal: In the outdoor area there is a sewage treatment plant for water treatment, as well as the docking station for the supply and disposal of the houseboat. This enables the boat change to be processed quickly and fully automatically.
Construction of the system: The architecture of the complex is inspired by Viking design. Typical elements of Viking construction were taken up and combined with modern elements. The central element is the use of natural and recycled building materials such as wood, stone, green roofs, textiles, recycled tiles combined with energy-efficient glazing. The use of modern green roofs on the sleeping huts combines traditional design with modern ecological construction methods.
Resource usage: Resource conservation is the top priority in all areas of the concept. From the use of naturally renewable or recycled building materials to the reprocessing of process water in a constructed sewage treatment plant, every area of the business should be sustainable and ecologically harmless. The sauna boat is powered by electric motors and batteries; the energy for this is generated by photovoltaics on land. The saunas are powered by electrically heated stones. The sauna boat is supplied and disposed of with water, energy, waste as well as supplies for the guests through a “docking station” in the landing area of the marina. The necessary amount of heat for all buildings is provided via a heat pump.
